Introducing: We are Handsome

The Aussies really seem to be rocking it in the swim world these days. Maybe it has something to do with their 16,000 mile coastline but regardless, no one else seems to be developing such interesting (and functional) collections.

The limited-edition range featured below was designed by We are Handsome founders Indhra Chagoury and Jeremy Somers who were motivated by, and Mademoiselle B quotes, "a need to to make something different, something fun and something that makes us go wow!" Each piece is made by hand and designs come from a combination of retro images and original designs.

Red Tartan

Call me waspy but this is just adorable. The plaid cotton Bando Bra ($68) and panties ($38) from Steven Alan is the cutest little fireside-appropriate ensemble we've ever seen. You can buy them online here.

Superwomen

This month's cover of i-D magazine features iconic supermodels Eva Herzigova, Helena Christensen and Claudia Schiffer in the nude shot by photographer Kayt Jones.

Although it might be almost depressing that these 40-comethings look better than I ever will (let's be honest here), Mademoiselle B does love the fact that for once we are looking at models over the age of 17. She also loves the fact that the photographer is herself a woman.

Out with the old and in with the new? We think not.

We come from France

The french are funny when it comes to women's' breasts (for a long time it was rumoured that Antoinette's pair were the model shape used to create the shallow broad-rimmed style of champagne coupe) but never quite so bold as now.

Jean Paul Gaultier's upcoming Spring/Summer 2010 collection features some seriously conical shaped bustiers a la madonna but with a tad more subtlety, mostly attributable to the satiny fabrics than the actual construction.

Although we are skeptical about the practical use of this lingerie collection (not sure how subtle those diamond cutters would be under a blouse at the office), there is definitely something strangely feminine about the whole affair.

Here are some images from his Paris Week runway show last fall. Funny how JPG also included some couture-style butt pads in the collection for good measure. Fashion statement or safety precaution? Mademoiselle B let's you be the judge.
