Hot & Cold

It appears that La Perla is jumping on the safari chic bandwagon (a la Ralph Lauren Spring 2009) with its Voyage Chic 2009 swim campaign. Even though it's been done before, we still appreciate the couture in the desert look regardless of the proximity of any natural body of water in the arid expanse.

They are also running a complementary, parallel campaign called Pool Party that satiates the thirst for watery richness. The deep blue and aqua tones in the photos are a refreshing contrast to the tans and yellows in Voyage Chic

Conclusion? La Perla has managed to have its cake and eat it too. By launching two simultaneous campaigns with completely a different look and feel they are reaching both sides of the coin.

Lingerie with no Limits

Allow me to introduce you to the gorgeous Netherlands-based lingerie line, Der Kommissar. Luxurious and sexy, this is power lingerie at its most assertive.

Here is a selection from the 2009 Ego and Alterego collections. Der Kommissar currently only available in Europe, but Mademoiselle B will let you know when this lavish line launches in North America. Trust me we are as anxious as you are to get our hands on this hotness.

Snapshot: Chris Nicholls

Mademoiselle B wants to share another of her favorite fashion photographers with you.
Chris Nicholls is one of Canada's most talented and deservingly celebrated fashion photographers. He is the guy behind many of your favorite editorials in Elle, Fashion and Flare Magazine, not to mention the man who makes La Senza basics look like a million bucks (ok fine, the supermodels help a little too) in those huge billboard campaigns that you want to block your boyfriends' eyes from every time you pass them by.

Here is a selection of his lingerie-related work. However believe us when we tell you that there is much, much more up his sleeve.

Exploitation of the Female Body?

I know I am probably supposed to be offended by these images as a young, emancipated, western woman, but there is something about the Tom Ford for Men campaign that I find 'extremement' appealing.

Yes I also realize that the featured sexy lady is stark naked and not clad in lacy lingerie, but perfume seems to be the type of sensual luxury product that shares a kinship with lacy little undies in many ways. And for this reason I thought it would still be appropriate to share these provocative pics with you on our luxury lingerie blog. Not to mention Tom Ford is hot.

{wink}

Hervé Léger by Max Azria Swim 2009

Images from thHervé Léger  Mercedes  Benz Fasion Week Spring 2009 collection show in Miami Beach.

We totally agree that the models are incredibly skinny, but the collection is so hot that we couldn't resist posting a few images. Who would have thought that a surgical bandage theme would work so well on the runway? Scroll through to find the escaped nipple (which we are assuming was unintentional although still kind of works).

Kymare Candy

If a friend lends you their Benz for the weekend your trusty old civic is not really going to do it for you on Monday. Someone gives you a pair of Louboutin pumps and suddenly you aren’t rocking those eighty-dollar Aldo knock-offs anymore.

That’s exactly how we felt after discovering Kymare, the elegant yet avant-garde swimwear line by Dutch designer, Kim Wormgoor. Her new Butterflies & Birds collection for Summer 2009 is unlike anything we’ve ever seen in swimwear and includes extremely girly swimsuits and cover-ups that could almost be called art if they weren’t so functional. How can we go back to that plain old string bikini after getting a taste of Kymare candy?

The color palette of emerald green, silver, and neon orange is sleek and modern, yet many of the styles in the collection incorporate classically feminine textures such as ruched satin and gold piping.

This rare gem of a line is not available widely in North America but that makes it all the more exclusive. Selected Kymare Butterflies & Birds collection styles are currently available in North America through swimwearcanada.com and in Europe directly at kymare.com.
